Dr Rahul Guru is a top consultant in anaesthesia and pain medicine based in Cardiff with expertise in treating back pain, neck pain, whiplash, sciatica and migraines. He is highly skilled in various injection treatments for chronic pain.
After completing his medical degree in India, he undertook his anaesthetic training in Ireland. He later undertook Fellowships in Pain Medicine at renowned centres in England and Ireland.
Leading and engaging in multiple research projects has lead Dr Guru to publish widely in peer-reviewed medical journals. He also regularly attends conferences and workshops to stay up-to-date on the latest advances in pain medicine.
As well as being a committed consultant, Dr Guru also finds time to teach pain medicine trainees and medical students and trains junior doctors at the University Hospital of Wales. He is invited as faculty to give lectures in national and international conferences.
Dr Guru practises privately at Nuffield Cardiff Bay as well as holding NHS positions at the University Hospital of Wales and University Hospital Llandough. Besides his areas of expertise, he has a special interest in spinal pain, neuropathic (nerve) pain, headaches and cancer pain. He treats his patients holistically and follows the biopsychosocial model of pain management.
